Where would we be without Bob Haro? Haro started in 1978. Bob was a California kid with a flair for drawing. During the early days of BMX, Bob would spend time at the track. He noticed that the paper plate number plates with magic markered numbers weren’t that appealing. Bob grabbed sheets of contact paper and hand drew fancy custom face plates to stick to the front of the paper plates. He took them to the track and sold them all. It wasn’t long before he was having plastic number plates manufactured.

Bob wasn’t much interested in the racing side of BMX and began doing tricks on his BMX bike instead. It’s fairly safe to say that Bob Haro singlehandedly invented the sport of freestyle BMX.
